Institute of Driving Training and Research, Sarai Kale Khan

About This Project

Post IDTR Loni, Delhi government decided to set up more IDTR in tie up with Maruti Suzuki India Ltd and identified site at Sarai Kale Khan. This piece of land had some unique constraints. It was quite low lying with an adjacent drain that used to flood the land. On the western edge lied Delhi’s Ring Road on a higher elevation.

The entire land was reclaimed using fly ash back filling and some unique rainwater hasting measures were taken. Unlike ITDR Loni where building were at the forefront, here building were pushed back making train track as forefront and offered a great view from Ring Road. Earth air tunnels for geothermal cooling were drawn along entire length of the site and building ventilation was designed for effective air circulation. The project targeted to achieve gold LEEDs certification in 2005.
