Master Plan of Pondicherry University was to efficiently locate 12 buildings and 2500 students . Concentric circular planning provided an evenly distributed built area ratio through out the square piece of land and the geometry allowed proper management of services and movement. Buildings attached themselves to the grid wherever necessary providing an easy, flexible, sustainable and green infrastructure.

About This Project

Silver Jubilee campus of Pondicherry University called for a new approach and a modern development in a 100 acres pocket in its existing 500 acre campus. The university area was supposed to house 12 buildings and 2500 students.

 

Competition won project, concept was to efficiently locate all the buildings with an address to central Silver jubilee sculpture.

 

Concentric circular planning provided an evenly distributed built area ratio through out the square piece of land and the geometry allowed  proper management of services and movement. Inner circle provided the main entry of the buildings and interconnection through central landscape. Outer cycle provided student parking lots, services feeds and annex block for future expansion.

 

Entire planning was designed as a ring from services point of view where buildings attached themselves to the grid wherever necessary providing an easy, flexible, sustainable and green infrastructure.

 

Concept entails urban planning principles, expandable services planning, movement and service corridors and open space positions  that shall set canvas for growing needs of university.
