Bhagwan Mahavir Cambridge School
Surat
Overview
Learning is a process that involves more than just books and a teacher in a classroom. Schools have seen substantial changes in recent years as it centers around the student, new education systems such as the Cambridge boards and the International Baccalaureate. It is also imperative that the building lends itself to an environment of learning, experience-based teaching, and activity-based growth. The demand for both intellectual and physical activities for pupils has placed a strain on infrastructure, which must exemplify both playfields and varied classroom approaches. Another impediment to the school's growth is the environment's urbanization and the associated costs of infrastructure and land. This increased the school's pressure to relocate outside of the city, but created a new issue for student commuters who will face lengthy travel.
Creators Architects was approached to defend the challenge of relocation and placement of the dense footfall of the student in the same area.
The Cambridge school's relocation concerns were perceived as the benefits of having a location in the heart of Surat's booming city and being on a campus outweighed the advantages of a shared facility. Due to the drawback of the limited area to support the high-density footfall of students, a sensible approach to natural high rises such as skyscrapers was proposed. How can we address the challenges that occur from the high rise, notably in schools? However, the difficulties inherent in designing a sustainable high-rise school were left unaddressed.
